Train-to-Work Courses 
Training courses to gain your ski & snowboard instructor qualifications. Once you have attained your qualifications we will help you explore opportunities to work at the internationally renowned Snowsports Schools of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.

Ski & Snowboard Train-to-Work courses are normally open to the world, and people come from all over the globe to enjoy a winter season in New Zealand.

Ski & Snowboard Train-to-Work

Train-to-Work courses are for good skiers & snowboarders to come to Queenstown, and train to gain your first or your next level of qualification. Once your qualifications are attained then we will help you explore the possibilities of working for the Snowsports School.
This would include a formal recruitment and interview process with the Snowsports School.

Arrive in Queenstown before the season starts and be part of the hype and buzz of opening day at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.

The Train-to-Work course is perfect if you have a reasonable level of skiing or snowboarding and a strong desire to work as an instructor.
To be eligible to apply for the Train-to-Work course – you must have the right to work in New Zealand or be able to get your own working visa to work in New Zealand.

No Sponsored Visas available.

You will have accommodation for the whole duration of the course, full seasons pass for two of NZ’s premier ski resorts – Coronet Peak & The Remarkables. You will have a full 7 day a week transport pass to go to either resort when ever you want.

Level 1 & 2

Train-to-Work

For good skiers to come to Queenstown, become qualified Ski or Snowboard Instructors.

You will be trained to achieve your Level 1, once your Level 1 qualification is attained then there may be opportunities, based on business levels, to gain employment in the Snowsports School. There would be a formal recruitment and interview process once you had attained Level 1 and/or Level 2 qualifications.

Level 2

Train-to-Work

Do you have your Level 1 qualification already? Come to Queenstown and train for your Level 2 qualification.

The SITCo Ski & Snowboard Instructor Level 2 Train-to-Work course includes training for your Level 2 instructor qualification and once that is attained there may be opportunities, based on business levels, to gain employment in the Snowsports School. There would be a formal recruitment and interview process once you had attained Level 1 and/or Level 2 qualifications.

Level 2 Train-to-Work course is an ideal way for you to get into the ski instructing industry and try it out.

Level 3

Train-to-Work

Opportunity for Level 2 qualified Ski Instructors to come to Queenstown and Work for Coronet Peak and The Remarkables Snowsports School.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you have your Level 2 for you to come to Coronet Peak, work, and then train to develop your performance skiing. 6 weeks full time paid ski instructor work….then 7 weeks Performance Training.

This unique program gives all successful applicants a full time job with the Snowsports School (6 weeks), and then after that you will train full time in a dedicated ISIA level training course.

Train for your Level 3 - this can be NZSIA/SBINZ L3 or overseas L3.

You will need to have a recognised Level 2 Ski Instructor qualification. This can be NZSIA Level 2 or APSI, BASI, CSIA, PSIA Level 2.

You will need to have the right to work in New Zealand.

You must have your own work visa.

To be accepted to work at the Snowsports School you will be required to enter into the employment process with NZSki including filling in application forms and a job interview. We will guide you through this process.

Taking part in the SITCo L3 Ski Train-to-Work course will create opportunities for you to take up work, business levels dependent,  as a ski instructor.

If successful you will be a fully employed member of the Snowsports School, and you will get paid at the rate organised by the employer at the time of taking you on.

It is very hard to say exactly how much you will be paid as each instructor gets paid individually based on an hourly rate, based on their performance levels, and based on the type of work they are doing.

When you are an employee full terms and conditions of your employment will be in force.

First thing you need to do is to make an Online Application from the SITCo website.

Once you have submitted an application a member of the SITCo team will be in touch and we will ask for evidence of previous qualifications, and your work visa.

You will then take apart in the training course that you have chosen. After that and depending on buisness levels the Snowsports School will be ready to take to you, and begin the formal employment process.
